Rain washed out NASCAR Cup Series qualifying at Dover Motor Speedway on Saturday, forcing the starting lineup for the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 NASCAR Cup Series race to be set by the NASCAR rule book.

2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott will lead the field to green on Sunday. The Hendrick Motorsports driver, piloting the No. 9 Chevrolet, was awarded the pole position based on the metric formula that includes a combination of factors such as finishing position, point standings and fastest laps from the previous race.

Elliott will be joined on the front row by Chase Briscoe in the No. 19 Toyota. Briscoe’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate, Christopher Bell, will start third in his No. 20 Toyota.

Joey Logano, who will start in the eighth position on Sunday, is making his 600th NASCAR Cup Series start this weekend at the Monster Mile. Sunday will be Logano’s 29th Cup race at Dover Motor Speedway, where he is still looking for first win.

“You have to be able to handle the elevation change—it’s really the landing moments," Logano said. "This place is tough.”
